Our heavenly witnesses

God, as our creator, continues to be very involved in watching over us. Evidence of just how well He is aware of our every action and our well being is found in the following:

Mat 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings out good things; and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings out evil things.

Mat 12:36 But I say to you that every idle word, whatever men may speak, they shall give account of it in the day of judgment.

Mat 12:37 For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.

Mat 10:30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.

Luk 12:7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore do not fear, you are of more value than many sparrows.

So, the question is, how does God keep aware of every aspect of our lives? We offer the following as answers.

Heb 11:32 And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah; also David, and Samuel and the prophets,

Heb 11:39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, did not receive the promise,

Heb 11:40 for God had provided some better thing for us, that they should not be made perfect without us

Heb 12:1 Therefore since we also are surrounded with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Joh 5:45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you, Moses, in whom you trust. (Moses will know our actions and be the prosecutor at our trial before God. This statement was made when Christ was speaking to Israel.)

All those mentioned above great people of faith and leadership would certainly be included as overseers of our lives. They lived for God and would be interested in how their lives made a difference in influencing us. We would even perhaps think that others who have preceded us in death and have been raised to paradise would be interested and allowed to watch. But, there is a likely problem in including all watching our actions and listening to our words. We make mistakes that could cause loved ones to hurt at our failures. God can forgive those who have accepted Christ, but He promises that those raised should not sorrow.

Psa 116:8 For You (Christ) have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from falling.

Psa 126:5 Those who sow (striving against satan and earthly desires) in tears (on earth) shall reap in joy (in Heaven).

Isa 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord Jehovah will wipe away tears from all faces. And He shall take away from all the earth the rebuke of His people. For Jehovah has spoken.

Luk 12:12 For the Holy Spirit shall teach you in the same hour what you ought to say.

Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatever I have said to you.

Act 2:4 And they were all filled of the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Act 2:38 Then Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ to remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Act 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the Word of God with boldness.

Act 5:32 And we are His witnesses of these things. And so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.

Act 10:45 And those of the circumcision, who believed (as many as came with Peter), were astonished because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out on the nations also. Act 15:8 And God, who knows the hearts, bore them witness, giving them the Holy Spirit even as to us.

Rom 5:5 And hope does not make us ashamed, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit given to us.

Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of the One who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, the One who raised up Christ from the dead shall also make your mortal bodies alive by His Spirit who dwells in you.

Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Rom 8:16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God.

Rom 9:1 I tell the truth in Christ, I do not lie, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit,

1Co 2:13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

1Co 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, whom you have of God? And you are not your own,

Eph 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you are sealed until the day of redemption.

2Ti 1:14 Guard the good Deposit given through the Holy Spirit indwelling in us. Heb 2:4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with different kinds of miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?

1Jn 5:7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one.

Rev 7:17 For the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will feed them and will lead them to the fountains of living waters. And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes. Rev 21:4 And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes. And there will be no more death, nor mourning, nor crying out, nor will there be any more pain; for the first things passed away.

Thus, those close to us who have been saved should not feel any sorrow. Heaven is to be a place of joy. So, unless they completely are aware and satisfied that our end result will be salvation, they cannot be made to feel sadness and compassion over our infractions in judgement.

Ah, but there is another who knows all about us. God’s Holy Spirit is continually with those in Christ. He is a part of us, knowing our innermost thoughts, desires and strivings for God.

Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, so that He may be with you forever,

Joh 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, If a man loves Me, he will keep My Word. And My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. Joh 14:25 I have spoken these things to you, being present with you.

Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatever I have said to you.

Joh 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth. For He shall not speak of Himself, but whatever He hears (from God the Father), He shall speak. And He will announce to you things to come.

Job 32:18 For I am full of words; the spirit within me presses on me.

Psa 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

Isa 63:11 Then He remembered the days of old, Moses and His people, saying, Where is He who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of His flock? Where is He who put His Holy Spirit within him;

Eze 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. And I will remove the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh,

Eze 36:26 And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. And I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.

Eze 36:27 And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall keep My judgments and do them.

1Pe 1:11 searching for what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ made clear within them, testifying beforehand of the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that should follow.

Thus, the Holy Spirit knows us completely and is always with us as a part of us. The Holy Spirit can not only help us to converse with God*, but can also keep a record of our successes and failures. (The failures can still be forgiven and covered by Jesus’s sacrifice of death on the cross if we have accepted Christ and are truly trying to follow God’s will.)

*Rom 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities (with healings allowed through Christ’s stripes and power from God the Father). For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

(Personally, I believe that the Spirit only passes on to The Father those prayer requests that are in agreement with the will of The Father or those that could sway The Father through compassion. All other thoughts would be useless, unless God’s compassion would allow his change of heart. Such was the case in deciding the fate of Sodom & Gomorrah after the pleading of Abraham. )(Genesis 18:22)

Thus, as John said:

Heb 12:1 Therefore since we also are surrounded with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

(That is to say to those in Christ: Live and be encouraged that God and many in Heaven are watching and the Holy Spirit within us is our helper.)
