Sin no more
Sin no more by lcl
Joh 5:2 Now there is a pool at the Sheep Gate at Jerusalem, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porches.
Joh 5:3 In these lay a great multitude of those who were sick, of blind, lame, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
Joh 5:4 For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and troubled the water. Then whoever first stepped in after the troubling of the water was made whole of whatever disease he had.
Joh 5:5 And a certain man was there, who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. Joh 5:6 When Jesus saw him lying, and knowing that he had spent much time, He said to him, Do you desire to be made whole?
“Whole” in this instance included physical healing and foregiveness of sins. Read on..
Joh 5:7 The infirm man answered Him, Sir, when the water is troubled, I have no one to put me into the pool. But while I am coming, another steps down before me.
Joh 5:8 Jesus says to him, Rise, take up your bed and walk.
Joh 5:9 And immediately the man was made whole and took up his bed and walked. And it was a sabbath on that day.
Joh 5:10 Therefore the Jews said to him who had been healed, It is the sabbath. It is not lawful for you to take up the bed.
Joh 5:11 He answered them, He who made me whole said to me, Take up your bed and walk.
Joh 5:12 Then they asked him, Who is the man who said to you, Take up your bed and walk?
Joh 5:13 And he did not know Him who had cured him, for Jesus had moved away, a crowd being in the place.
Joh 5:14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, Behold, you are made whole. Sin no more lest a worse thing come to you.
The man had prior sin in his life and was warned not to go back to his old ways.
Joh 8:3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman taken in adultery. And standing her in the midst,
Joh 8:4 they said to Him, Teacher, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
Joh 8:5 Now Moses in the Law commanded us that such should be stoned. You, then, what do you say?
Joh 8:6 They said this, tempting Him so that they might have reason to accuse Him. But bending down, Jesus wrote on the ground with His finger, not appearing to hear.
Joh 8:7 But as they continued to ask Him, He lifted Himself up and said to them, He who is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her.
Joh 8:8 And again bending down, He wrote on the ground.
Joh 8:9 And hearing, and being convicted by conscience, they went out one by one, beginning at the oldest, until the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
Joh 8:10 And bending back up, and seeing no one but the woman, Jesus said to her, Woman, where are the ones who accused you? Did not one give judgment against you?
Joh 8:11 And she said, No one, Lord. And Jesus said to her, Neither do I give judgment. Go, and sin no more.
The woman’s sins were forgiven and she was also warned not to fall into further sin. God does heal and forgive sinners as an encouragement to abstain from further sin. He knows who will follow His instruction and heed His warning. Much is owed when much is given. Grace like freedom is not free.
Christ and solders pay prices. Sin also has a price for those who refuse to change.
