Christ, Jesus

Prophesied to be born of a virgin and named Immanuel. He was to eat curds and honey to know to refuse evil and choose good. Isaiah 7:14-15

He was to break the yoke of the oppressor (Satan) by garments rolled in blood (His own). (Unfortunately, the people misinterpreted this to mean that He was to break the yoke of their earthly oppressor, Rome.) Isaiah 9:4

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder. His name shall be called wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, prince of peace. Of the increase of His government and peace, there will be no end. Isaiah 9:6-7 (His government refers to God’s heavenly government.)

He has no form or comeliness, and when we see Him there is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him. He was despised and we did not esteem Him. Surely, He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned, everyone, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:2-6

Had glory with the Father before the world was created. John 17:5

Coming for told by Moses. Deut.18:15-19 Moses’s words recalled by Peter. Acts 3:22-23 Abraham rejoiced at seeing the future of the days of Christ says Christ. John 8:56

Is the image of the invisible God. The firstborn over all creation. Colossians 1:15

Created all things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things and in Him all things consist. Col.1:16, 17

Was conceived, as a human, by the Holy Spirit. Isaiah 7:14, Matthew1:18-23, Luke 1:27-35 Was born that He might be a king in heaven and bear witness to the truth. John 18:36-37 Was sent as God’s messenger Malachi 3:1-3

The words of Christ are Spirit & life, given by the Father. John 6:63, 12:49

Was manifested to take away sin and has no sin in Him. Those in Christ do not sin. 1st John 3:5,6,9 (In the old testament god used the blood of pure animals to make atonement for sin. Leviticus 17:11 In the new covenant, the blood of a pure Christ became the perfect sacrifice to cancel the sins of all who accept Him as Savior and Lord.)

Christ’s blood: Justifies Rom.5:9, cleanses 1 John 1:7 Heb.9:22 Rev.1:5, signifies the new covenant and was shed for the remission of sins Matt.26:28 Luke 22:20 Heb.9:22 Col.1:14

The son of the living God. Matt.16:16-17, 17:5, 26:64, Mark 9:7, 14:61-62, Luke 9:35, 22:70, John 9:35-37

He is the head of the church, and the first raised from the dead. He will reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross. Colossians 1:18-20

King of the Jews. Mark 15:2, Luke 23:3, John 19:19-22 Lord of the Sabbath. Luke 6:5

The Messiah (savior). John 4:25-26 There is no other name, other than Christ, by which we are saved. Acts 4:12

The light of the world. John 8:12, John 12:46 The foundation of the Church. 1Cor.3:9-11

Referred to as the Word that was with, and was God that made all things and was light made for every man (and woman). John 1:1-5, 9 (Women were not recognized at that time.)

Gave the authority, to those that receive Him, to become children of God. John 1:12-13 Became (human) flesh, (while on earth.) John 1:14

Was strong in spirit & filled with wisdom and God’s grace. Luke 2:40, 52

Is the complete embodiment of God’s fullness and indwelling. Colossians 2:9 Gave grace and truth (to the world). John 1:17

Called the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the World. John 1:29 Came to seek and save the lost. Luke 19:10

Anointed to preach, heal, proclaim liberty and set free the oppressed. Luke 4:18-21, 43 Gives preference to saving any believer who is becoming lost. Matt.18:11-14

Baptizes with the Holy Spirit and fire. Matt.3:11

Received control from God (John 3:35) & reveals God only to those He chooses. Matt.11:27, Luke 10:21-22

Speaks of using God’s power to perform what He asks. John 14:10 Has compassion. Matt.14:14 For an adulteress. John 8:3-11 Seeks children (to become followers). Matt.19:13-14

The only (human) teacher (about God & His will). Matt.23:10

Transfigured & meets with Elijah & Moses. Matt. 17:2, Mark 9:2-6, Luke 9:28-36

Received honor and glory from God who said: “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. Matt. 17:5, 2nd Peter 1:16-18

Had to be rejected by his generation and suffer. Luke 17:22-25 Testified that the works of the world are evil. John 7:7

His flesh did not begin to deteriorate when he died. He went to Hades for 3 days (Hell)(to tell of the way of salvation to those who had died before His ministry.), then was raised above all heavens. Matthew 12:40, Acts 2:27-31,31-32, Ephesians 4:9, 10, 1stPeter 3:19,20 &


When in hell He was separated from God The Father who, as a Holy God, could not be in the presence of sin.

Rose out of the grave. Matt.28:6, Mark16:1-6, Luke 24:1-9

Appeared after His resurrection. Matt.28:9, 17-20, Mark16:9-14, Luke 24:13-35, 36-48, John 20:14-30, 21:1,4-23, 1Cor.15:5-8 He had flesh and bones (Luke 24:39, John 20:27), was able to eat earthly food (Luke 24: 41-43) and yet was able to appear & disappear at will (Luke 24:36, John 20:19, 26).

Was the first fruits (raised) of those who have fallen asleep (physical death). 1Cor.15:20 Returned to (the Father) who sent Him. John 7:33-34, Acts 1:1,2,9,10

Was re-glorified by the Father after His earthly death and ascension. John 17:5 (Christ would have lost some of His glory when he died as an atonement for sin and went to Hell. John 1:14 tells that He still had His glory when on earth.) John 17:5

Threw Satan from Heaven using Michael and his angels warring against the dragon. Luke 10:18, Jude1:6, 2nd Peter2:4, Rev.12:7-11

Is at the right hand of the Father (now). Acts 7:55-56, Ephesians 1:20, Heb. 8:1

When Christ raised himself from death and sat at God’s right hand in heaven He became far above all principality, powers, might and dominion (kingdoms) and above all names in this and the future age to come. All things were put under His feet and He was made head of the Church, which became His body. In that moment, all who had been dead due to sin (even while trusting in Christ) were also guaranteed life in heaven , by God’s grace, and also (guaranteed to be) raised to be with Christ in heaven. You were saved by grace through faith, not by works, but as a gift of God that none should (pridefully) boast. Eph.1:20, 2:8,9

Christ died that He might be able to destroy the devil, and free from bondage those who fear death (that the devil can bring.) Hebrews 2:14-15

Christ had to be made as man that He might be a high priest, for things pertaining to God, and become a propitiation (atoning sacrifice) for the sins of the people. Hebrews 2:17

Was foreordained (a high priest) to save those known before the foundation of the world. 1st Peter 1:19-20

Because Christ humbled Himself and obeyed God the Father, even to death on a cross, He

was exalted and His name made above all others. At the name of Jesus every knee in heaven, on and under earth shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:8-11

Jesus Christ is the chief cornerstone of the household of God, including saved Jews & Gentiles and other saints. The foundation was made of apostles and prophets. All together will form a holy temple for God in the Spirit. Eph.2:19-22

Commands his Deciples to deciple, baptize & teach the world. Matt.28:19-20, Mark16:14-18 Requires any who desire to follow Him to salvation to suffer, and be led by Him. Luke 9:23-


Is with any two or three gathered in his name. Matt.18:20 Christ is given all judgement authority by God. John 5:22, 17:2

Will judge all who, having heard Christ’s words, do not believe in God. John 5:22-30 Moses will accuse those being judged. John 5:45

Came to create division and excitement by telling God’s truths and plan of salvation. Luke 12:49-53

Christ is like a single body having many parts. 1 Cor.12:12 Came to do the will of the Father. John 6:38

Christ’s (spiritual) food is to do the will (of the Father) and finish His work. John 4:34

Did those things which He saw the Father do. The Father raises the dead and gives them life.

The Christ, the Son, also gives life. John 5:19-21 Always did things that please (God the Father). John 8:29

Died for the ungodly to show God’s love for them. Romans 5:6, 8

Spoke the doctrine of God, the Father who was in Him. John 7:16-17, 14:10 Was sent by God (the Father). John 7:28-29, John 8:42

Returned to (God the Father). John 16:5, 28

The only mediator between God (the Father) and man. 1 Timothy 2:5

Is a high priest forever, Holy , blameless and undefiled. Hebrews 6:20, 7:1-3, 26

Makes intercession continually (for the saved), while sitting at the right hand of God.

Hebrews 7:25, 8:1

Will judge all flesh. John 5:22, 17:2

Told the truth from God. John 8:40, John 18:37, Heb.1:2

Draws all peoples to Himself when He is lifted up (praised and exalted) on earth. John12:32 Knows God (the father) and keeps His word. John 8:55

When we believe in Christ, we believe in the Father. When we see who Christ is, we see the Father. John 12:44-45

Christ chose those to follow Him, appointed them (to do God’s work) successfully and to receive that which is asked for in the name of Christ. John 15:16

Christ sent a helper, the spirit of truth (the Holy Spirit ), to his followers by praying to the Father, who then sent the Holy Spirit. John 14:16, 15:26,16:7-15,20:22

Christ will return again to reign on earth. Acts 1:11 When he touches the Mt. Of Olives, it will split from an earthquake (Zechariah 14:4), forming a great valley where living waters flow from Jerusalem East and West. Jerusalem will then be at peace from war. Those who fought against Jerusalem will receive a plague causing them to dissolve

immediately (like a nuclear explosion). People must also return yearly to honor Christ, again on earth, or they will receive no rain. Zechariah 14: 1-17 The ark of the covenant will cease to exist during Christ’s earthly reign. Jeremiah 3:16-17

Christ and God the Father gives everlasting consolation & hope through grace. They comfort the hearts and establish (believers) in every good word and work. 2Thes.2:16-17

Is the heir of all things. Made the worlds and heavens. Hebrews 1:2,10 Was made a little lower than the angels (while on earth). Heb.2:6-9 Became better than the angels. (After the resurrection) Hebrews 1:3-4 Will be worshiped by the angels. Heb.1:6

Has a scepter of righteousness and is anointed with the oil of gladness. Is unchanging. Heb.1:12, 13:8

Was heard (by God) because He feared God. He learned obedience because of the things He suffered. Heb.5:7-8
