At the beginning of His earthly ministry Jesus went into the wilderness to be tested by Satan. In response to hunger, Jesus instructed Satan and all mankind to live by every word from God. Having faith that the Bible is inspired by the Spirit of God leads us to pay attention to and meditate on every word in scripture and every word given directly by God to seek understanding and guidance.
Mat_4:4 But He answered and said, It is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.”
Luk_4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written that “man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word of God.”
When we do not understand that given by God it is entirely correct to have the same response that Mary did when she was told of her being chosen to give birth to Christ, the Savior. She sought moreinformation.
Luk_1:34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
So, when we encounter a lack of understanding because of limited knowledge, dwell longer on every word and open your thoughts that God may supply the answer that agrees with scripture and honors Christ. Such questioning situations may likely be found in the following passages:
Jer_1:5 Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I consecrated you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations.
Luk_2:21 And when eight days were fulfilled to circumcise the child, His name was called JESUS, the name called by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.
Both we and Jesus were known by God before birth and even conception. The spiritual Jesus could pass through Mary’s physical body and into her womb to create a physical body.
Joh_17:24 Father, I desire that those whom You have given Me, that they may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me, for You have loved Me before the foundation of the world.
Eph_1:4 according as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
Both Jesus and those that would accept Christ as the Son of God were loved prior to the earth being created.
2Co 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2Co_5:16 So as we now know no one according to flesh, but even if we have known Christ according to flesh, yet now we no longer know Him so.
Or in the King James translation:
2Co 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
After an earthly life, we and Christ will have a fleshly/spiritual physical spirit body in Heaven.
Heb_11:3 (MKJV) By faith we understand that the ages were framed by a word of God, so that the things being seen not to have come into being out of the things that appear.
Or in the older King James translation:
Heb 11:3 (KJV) Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Physical things can be made out of spiritual unseen things.
2Co 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
2Co 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
2Co_4:18 we not considering the things which are seen, but the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are not lasting, but the things which are not seen are everlasting.
The soul and spiritual things are renewed daily and are eternal.
Job_34:15 all flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again to dust. Ecc_3:20 All go to one place; all are of the dust, and all return to dust again.
Ecc_12:7 then the dust shall return to the earth as it was, and the spirit shall return to God who gave it.
Heb_9:27 And as it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment,
The physical flesh does pass away prior to judgement for Heaven or Hell and the Spirit returns to God.
Rom_8:11 But if the Spirit of the One who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, the One who raised up Christ from the dead shall also make your mortal bodies alive by His Spirit who dwells in you.
Rom 8:12 Therefore, brothers, we are not debtors to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.
Rom 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh, you shall die. But if you through the Spirit mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live.
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Rom 8:15 For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption by which we cry, Abba, Father!
Rom 8:16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God.
Act_2:38 Then Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ to remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
1Co_2:13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co_6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, whom you have of God? And you are not your own,
God’s Holy Spirit becomes part of all who are in Christ and raises the decayed physical body as a spirit and physical body fit for Heaven.
Joh_6:63 It is the Spirit that makes alive, the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit and are life.
Knowing all the above, allow me to propose an explanation that resolves how all these things happen:
All people and things are first spiritual and known by God.
Jer 1:5 Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I consecrated you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations.
God knows us and our nature to the extent that He makes a decision as to who will be chosen as a prophet and follower of Christ. We do not know how old, in human years, the spirit may be. Spirits do not age as those physical do.

Eph 1:5 having predestined us to the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,
God the Father knew Jesus and mankind as spiritual beings before birth. Jesus and all those chosen by God were even loved prior to birth. At conception, God gives a spiritual body and a physical body. The spirit gives life to the flesh. Jesus’s physical body was conceived directly from the spiritual and made to appear out of the unseen Spirit of God. Jesus had to be conceived and born this way to avoid the original sin of Adam that He might die sinless on the cross. The spiritual and physical bodies during life on the earth go through testing to prove (or disprove) a free will faith in and love for Christ and desire for obedience to the will of God the Father. The Holy Spirit of God becomes part of all who have accepted and believe in Jesus. At physical death each person’s original spirit in a spiritual body and the Holy spirit, in those who have accepted Jesus, again returns to God for judgement, various rewards for those in Christ and entry into a spiritual Heaven or Hell that is eternal. The spiritual body can transform into spirit or physical body as desired. The Holy Spirit purifies the saved and guarantees that they will gain Heaven. Those in Heaven will be able to create spiritual things that will never be destroyed. They will be in the presence of God forever and have continued fellowship with the Godhead. That fellowship began upon a faith acceptance of Christ as lord and savior of a person’s life.
